My Favorite Free Design Resources

Updated: Oct 19, 2021

I’ve compiled a list of my current favorite go-to free design resources for you to get your business up and running.

Let’s be honest, when you are starting a business or just on a tight budget, the last thing you want to spend your money on are things like stock photography, subscriptions, icons, and fonts. However having quality and professional design assets is a really really big deal to how you are portrayed as a brand and you just can’t skimp on this. We are such a visual society, and someone in an instant forms an impression of you and your business with just a glance of your aesthetic. The good news is that there are so many free quality resources available to you out there! You just need to know where to look! I’ve compiled a list of my current favorite go-to resources for you to start using as well! (Pro tip: be sure to always check the copyright and license details to be sure you have total permission to use the assets)

Photography
A great stock image website with beautiful (non-stocky) images free for you to use!
Pexles: Another website I use all the time with great search capabilities to find the perfect photographs and stock videos.
Mockupworld: This is one of my favorite sites to download free mockup photography. If I’m looking to display a website, brochure or sign in a professional way, I know I can find high-quality realistic mockups here. (Photoshop is required to edit most of these images)

Fonts
Google Fonts: Did you know Google has their own free font library?! I use this one all the time, especially for my web designs. They are easy to download, and I know they are always web safe.
Creative Market: This site is not completely free, but they have weekly freebies which always include some great fonts. Since these freebies are usually paid-for, you can rest assured that these are quality resources.

Icons:
Fontawesome: This site is well known, especially in the web design industry for their professionally designed icons. You can download them as vectors, html code, or as a font that will convert as an icon in you designs.

Flaticon: I use this one a lot as well. This site has almost 2 million icons to choose from and most of them are free! Be sure to choose non-premium icons and download to your heart’s content!
These are just a few of the many free resources out there. I hope this list gives you a head start on making your business look like a million bucks! Feel free to comment below with any of your go-to free resources as well!
